Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how JobSiteRecon LLC ("JobSiteRecon," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects the personal information of users ("User," "you," or "your") who access or use the JobSiteRecon website, mobile application, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Registration Data: First name, last name, username, email address, password, date of birth, and phone number (optional).
- Profile Information: Profession/job title, years of experience, country, state or region, county (where applicable), business name (optional), biography (optional, up to 250 characters), and profile banner selection.
- User-Generated Content: Ratings and any other content you submit through the Platform. This includes JobSite Complexity Scores (a 1–10 numeric rating for a jobsite address, submitted as either a Completed Job or a Quote Visit) and Contractor Operational Ratings (a 1–10 numeric rating submitted at the business address of a contractor or trade you worked with, worked under, or worked alongside). Both rating types are numeric only — the Platform does not collect tags, written comments, or other descriptive content alongside a rating. This category also includes comments you post on Field Guide (blog) articles, testimonials you submit, documentation submitted to verify a disputed rating (such as an invoice, signed estimate, or contract), and any other content you choose to share.
- Referral and Promotional Data: Referral codes generated by your account, referral codes applied during registration, the identity of the user who referred you (if any), promotional codes applied, and referral milestone progress.
- Address and Property Data: Physical addresses submitted with ratings, geocoded location data, and property sale dates recorded by Platform administrators for the purpose of organizing ratings by ownership period. For Contractor Operational Ratings, the address submitted is the registered business address of the contractor or trade being rated — this rating type is not tied to residential addresses.
- Communications: Messages sent through the Platform's messaging system, and any correspondence you send to us directly (e.g., support requests).
- Payment Information: When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. (for web purchases) or by RevenueCat, Inc. together with the Apple App Store or Google Play (for in-app purchases on our mobile apps). We do not directly store your credit card number, bank account number, or other sensitive financial information. We may receive and store your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and transaction history.
- Merchandise Orders: If you purchase branded merchandise from our online store, your order details, shipping address, contact information, and payment are collected and processed by Shopify, Inc., which powers our store and checkout. We do not directly store your full payment card details for merchandise orders.
- Sign-In Data: If you choose to sign up or log in using Google or Apple, we receive a unique account identifier from that provider and, where applicable, your name and email address, which we use to create or access your account. We do not receive your password for those services.
- Rewards Data: Recon Points you earn for posting ratings, along with your redemption history, used to administer the Recon Points rewards feature.
- Marketplace Listings ("The Yard"): If you post a listing on The Yard marketplace, we collect the listing content you provide, including the title, description, price, category, condition, photographs, an optional general area label, and the approximate geographic location used to show your listing to nearby members. Reports you submit about other members' listings are also collected and retained for moderation purposes.
- Survey and Giveaway Data: If you participate in a survey, giveaway, or promotional offer, we may collect the information you provide, which can include your email address, phone number, and (for apparel giveaways) your shirt size.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Log Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, date and time of access, and other standard server log information.
- Device Information: Device type, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use session cookies to maintain your authentication state and preferences. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the Platform is used.
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Platform, including features used, searches performed, ratings viewed, and frequency and duration of your activities.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Account Management: To create and manage your account, authenticate your identity, and maintain your session.
- Service Delivery: To provide, operate, and maintain the Platform and its features, including the rating system, search functionality, and messaging.
- Communications: To send you transactional emails, including account verification codes, password reset links, welcome messages, and important service updates.
- Payment Processing: To process subscription payments and manage your billing through our third-party payment processors — Stripe for web purchases, and RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store or Google Play for mobile in-app purchases. This includes storing your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, plan type, billing cycle dates, and transaction history to manage your account and provide customer support.
- Subscription Management: To track your subscription plan, billing cycle, auto-renewal dates, promotional code usage, referral code usage, referral milestone progress, and usage limits. This data is used to enforce plan limits, process renewals, administer the referral program, and communicate billing changes.
- Badge Computation: To analyze the domain of your registration email address in order to determine eligibility for the Verified Business badge. This analysis is performed automatically and involves comparing your email domain against a list of commonly known free email providers. No external verification of business identity is performed.
- Address Geocoding: To convert physical addresses submitted with ratings into geographic coordinates using third-party geocoding services (Mapbox) for the purpose of address profile pages, search functionality, and nearby searches.
- Address and Business Profile Display: To display individual user-submitted ratings on address and business profile pages, listed most recent first. The Platform does not calculate or display an averaged or aggregate score for any address or business. Property sale dates, when recorded by a Platform administrator, are used to organize ratings by ownership period on address profile pages.
- Safety and Security: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity on the Platform.
- Content Moderation: To automatically scan direct messages for prohibited content including personally identifiable information, hate speech, threats, and other policy violations. Flagged messages are logged and may be reviewed by authorized personnel.
- Usage Analytics: To track how you interact with the Platform, including ratings created, addresses and businesses viewed, search queries performed, and features used. This data is used to enforce plan limits, improve the Platform, and generate aggregate analytics.
- Fake Rating and Content Moderation Reports: When you submit a fake rating report or takedown request via email or in-app flagging, we collect and retain the report content (including the reported rating, your contact information if provided, and any supporting details) for the purpose of investigating and responding to the report. This information may be retained even after resolution for audit and legal purposes.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.
- Platform Improvement: To analyze usage patterns and trends to improve the Platform's functionality, user experience, and content.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
However, we share certain data (such as browsing behavior collected via the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics) with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), this may constitute 'sharing' personal information. California residents may opt out of this sharing by visiting their Facebook Ad Preferences at facebook.com/ads/preferences or Google Ad Settings at adssettings.google.com. A global privacy control (GPC) signal honored by your browser will also be treated as an opt-out request.
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Profile and Rating Information: Your first name, last name, username, profession, years of experience, biography, profile banner, business name, country, state, county, Premium badge status, and Verified Business badge status are visible to other registered users of the Platform. Ratings you submit are visible to other registered, logged-in users of the Platform — address and business profile pages are not indexed by search engines and are not accessible without a registered account.
- Marketplace Listings: If you post a listing on The Yard, the listing content — including photographs, title, description, price, your username, the general area label you provide, and your approximate distance from a viewer — is visible to other users browsing the marketplace, including visitors who are not logged in (in limited preview form). Your exact coordinates and street address are never displayed.
- Service Providers: We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including Stripe and RevenueCat (payment and subscription processing), Shopify (merchandise store and checkout), Apple and Google (sign-in and, for mobile purchases, app-store billing), Resend (email delivery), Mapbox (address geocoding), Trustpilot (collecting customer feedback and reviews), and hosting providers. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes of providing services to us.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Platform's services. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. User-generated ratings may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to preserve the integrity of the rating database.
Subscription and billing data (including Stripe customer IDs, transaction history, plan changes, and invoices) is retained for a minimum of seven (7) years after the end of your subscription to comply with financial record-keeping requirements and tax obligations. Direct message content that has been flagged for policy violations may be retained indefinitely for legal and safety purposes, even after account deletion.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption of passwords using bcrypt hashing with a cost factor of 12.
- Secure, HTTP-only session cookies with SameSite protections.
- Optional two-factor authentication (2FA) via TOTP for additional account security.
- Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS/TLS.
- Regular security reviews and monitoring.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Data Portability: You may request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. The Platform also provides a self-service data export feature that allows you to download your account data (including ratings and messages) in JSON format directly from your account settings.
- Opt-Out of Communications: You may opt out of non-essential and marketing communications (such as our Field Guide newsletter) at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in those emails or by contacting us. Note that transactional emails (e.g., verification codes, security alerts) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
- Account Settings: You may update your profile information, change your password, and manage your 2FA settings through your account profile page.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address provided below. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze usage of the Platform. Essential cookies are necessary for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled. By using the Platform, you consent to the use of cookies as described in this Policy. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. However, disabling cookies may limit your ability to use certain features of the Platform.
We also use the Meta Pixel , an advertising and analytics tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. The Meta Pixel collects information about your visits to our Platform (such as pages viewed) and sends it to Meta in hashed form to help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising, build audiences for future ads, and improve our marketing. The information collected by the Meta Pixel may be used by Meta in accordance with its own Data Policy. You may opt out of Meta's use of this data for advertising purposes through your Facebook Ad Preferences or by using the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool.
We also use Google Analytics and Google Ads , services provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Platform and to measure the performance of our advertising. These services use cookies and similar identifiers to collect information such as pages viewed, actions taken, and general location, and may set advertising and conversion-tracking identifiers. You can learn more from Google's Privacy Policy and opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google Ad Settings. We may also use attribution tools to measure which advertisements or referrals led you to the Platform.
